Головні герої телесеріалу - співробітники поліцейської ділянки в маленькому британському містечку. Керує ними розумний і проникливий інспектор Фаулер - педант і акуратист, якому отруює життя хронічно депресивний слідчий Грім. Ще одна неприємність Фаулера - носій ідіотичних ідей полісмен Гуді. Його частково врівноважує констебль Мегі - в цьому розкладі її навіть можна назвати тямущою. Можливо тому Гуді вирішив саме на неї спрямувати всю потужність свого нехитрого романтичного почуття.
