Pedro e Stoned conhecem-se casualmente e apercebem-se de que partilham uma paixão: o consumo livre e desregrado de drogas. Durante uma viagem de carro, são parados pela Polícia, presos e incidentalmente deportados para o México. Para conseguirem regressar aos Estados Unidos, a dupla recebe inadvertidamente uma carrinha verde, inteiramente feita de "erva", que ao longo do trajeto deixa todos os que seguem chapados, inclusivamente os polícias que os procuram prender!
