９世紀のスカンジナビア地域。小国の若き王子アムレートは、叔父のフィヨルニルによって父オーヴァンディル王を殺され、母であるグートルン王妃を連れ去られてしまう。たった一人逃げ延びた彼は、母の救出とオーヴァンディルへの復讐を心に誓う。数年後、各地で略奪を繰り返す獰猛なヴァイキングの一員となっていたアムレートは、フィヨルニルがアイスランドで農場を営んでいることを知ると、自ら奴隷に変装し、フィヨルニルの農場に潜り込むのだったが…。
