Vladimir Tyulkin
Vladimir Viktorovich Tyulkin (Russian: Владимир Викторович Тюлькин; born 12 February 1955; Semipalatinsk) is a Kazakh documentary filmmaker. Vladimir Tyulkin studied cinematography at the Institute of Theatre, Music and Cinematography in St. Petersburg, Russia, before taking an advanced course in directing at Mosfilm. From 1987 to 1990 he headed the documentary department of Kazakh Film. Vladimir worked as a director on various national TV channels and directed 500 episodes of the TV series Crossroads for Phabar, the Central Kazakh TV Channel. He is currently a producer for 'Kazakh TV' (owned by Khabar Media Holding Company) and a lecturer at the Cinematography and Television Academy of Turan University of Almaty. His filmography includes Lord of the Flies (1990), About Love (2005) and The Cross Experiment with Taras Popov (1995), which screened in over 30 countries and won numerous international awards. awards, including the grand prize at the Amsterdam International Film Festival. In 2004, Vladimir won Best Russian Documentary Series for his nine-part series Tattoo Under Heaven. In 2010, he directed Not about Dogs. His works have been presented and awarded at international festivals, notably in Nion (1991), Leipzig (1995), London (2005) and Oberhausen (2011).
