Po úspěchu s komickým výstupem na kolečkových bruslích se jí splní největší životní sen: dostane angažmá ve vyhlášeném muzikálovém divadle Follies. U její šatny se však objevuje šarmantní hazardní hráč Nick Arnstein (O. Sharif), jenž Fanny od první chvíle okouzlí. Stane se jediným mužem, kvůli kterému bude Fanny schopná divadlo opustit.
